An Iowa Fourth of July

This has been a great first week in July.

Madi started swimming lessons at the YMCA and is doing great!
We have begun to harvest many summer veggies from our garden and are having a blast cooking them in various dishes!

We had an amazing 4th of July.. the weather here was fantastic Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

We went to the park, a friends party, saw fireworks, lit sparklers and just had a great time.  Zach managed to get some work done around the farm.. and he found a huge snake skin.. I hope I never meet the snake that occupied that skin... YIKES!

Saturday night there was a horrible rain storm here, we got 5 1/2" of rain overnight.  The creeks and pond were so full and flooding.  A building here in town just collapsed due to the amount of water on its roof.  Just crazy!

Summer Fun

We've had so much fun so far this summer. Hanging with friends and enjoying the sun!

We even went to the College World Series.. Madison & Mallory we're a hit with the camera man and they got on the big screen!

An Iowa Memorial Day

We've had an excellent Memorial Day weekend.

Saturday we took a little road trip across Iowa. Lunch in Buffalo Iowa on the Mississippi River, stopped in to see the American Pickers in Le Claire, toured Iowa City (go Hawkeyes!), and ended the day in DesMoines for our family's favorite Zombie Burger.

Sunday & Monday full of fishing, friends,  & of course sweet corn! 

Weekend

Our weekend was excellent.

Zach. & madi had fun driving the tractor.

We fished and went to the zoo too ;)

I'm loving the warmer weather!

Zoo & cherry pie

Madison, Mallory & I enjoyed the zoo on Thursday! It was absolutely perfect.. I think we were the only people at the zoo & we had free reign.. It was so much fun!

Zach had a client at work give him a huge box of cherries and we also made a cherry pie on Friday!! Yumm!

Days outside

Well it's now consistently nice outside in Iowa. We've enjoyed patio sitting, parks, water play & time with friends. 

I'm really enjoying this time in life!
