Almost over

Well our Christmas vacation is almost over as well as the year 2012...
It was an okay year.. We had lots of changes. Little Madison has grown so quickly it makes me sad ;(
I'm excited to see what awaits us in 2013..

Christmas

We are having a blast on our Christmas trip..
I feel like we've been going at 100 miles an hour & still have more to do & places to go, but I'm having fun doing it.
Madison's made Christmas cookies & opened presents; Zach got an ugly Christmas sweater; Fort Worth got snow!! Crazy...

Headed to Cowtown

Okay Fort Worth.. I'm waiting on Zach to get off work.. Then we are headed your way..estimated time of arrival 1:30-2am.

Snow day

Well.. Here's what an Iowa snow day looks like.. Not quite the same as Texas.

One hour into the storm..it's supposed to keep snowing until noon tomorrow!

Blizzard

Okay..so the Winter Storm Warning has now been updated to a Blizzard Warning which is apparently worse.
Supposed to start snowing around 4pm..
I'm planning on having hot chocolate, chili & cornbread for dinner!!
Madi & I decided before the snow fall we'd go into Omaha & have lunch with Zach.
She loves the big Christmas tree & train at Zachs work building!

Winter storm a brewing

Okay... Our first winter storm is a brewing..we are anticipating 7-12 inches tomorrow.
Hope Zach makes it home from work okay..I'll post pictures when there's snow to show.
In the mean time I'm going to sit here & watch all the snow episodes of Gilmore Girls!

What a Mess

It's been a fun few days in the Burt house.
Madison and I had a mommy & daughter coffee date at the little local coffee shop last Friday..we shared an apple pastry & she eyed my cup of coffee.
She's been busy coloring Christmas cards..and ate a blue marker!! Agggh
Today we made Christmas cookies! It was quite a mess.. But delicious!
We gave some to the mailman & are taking some to the firehouse tomorrow, to thank them for their service.
We come home Friday & Zach and I are so excited !!

Sadness

I am so sick & saddened by the events that took place in the Connecticut school this morning.
I will be praying fiercely for all children & parents & family involved.

A little girl

Madison had her first play date with another little girl today! Zach is so glad to know there are little girls in Red Oak.
Now we also played with madis best little friend Jamieson today too! It was his birthday...so lots of candy & fun today.
She is also asking about Santa & getting into the Christmas spirit!

Weekend

My mom came this weekend and it was so great to have her here! I can't wait for more visitors!
We went to Omaha on Friday to eat lunch with Zach & shop in the Old Market.. I was surprised to see they have cops on horses here too!
Saturday we had a huge bonfire & smoked pork chops for dinner. The pork chops were awesome . During the bonfire we found two huge barrels, one we are going to turn into a fire pit, the other a huge smoker!
Sunday we went to church, Zach changed the oil in both cars with 20 degree weather and a strong north wind. Then that evening we took Madison to see Christmas lights.
Quite a weekend!!

Man!

Okay I wrote this long post about my weekend but for some reason it didn't post.. So enjoy the couple of photos & ill repost my weekend later!

Smell

Why do all basements have a smell?
Well at least out here on the farm they do.. Just musty & old. I have decided to add febreeze car plugins to our air outlets in hopes that helps diminish the musty smell that comes from the basement.
Today madi & I went grocery shopping. The small grocery store now knows madi & it's fun to go there.
We then went & had a playdate.. All boys once again.. No one here has a girl!
We made peanut butter cookies & madi helped me clean up. This afternoon we walked out in the fields, Madison loves exploring!

Weekend

We had a great weekend. The weather was wonderful, except being extremely foggy.
Friday night Zach and I put Madison down for bed early & cooked dinner together. We attempted a pan seared ribeye steak & warm bacon & crouton salad.. Delicious.
Saturday was full of yard work & football.
Sunday we went to church and lounged around as a family. We even had our first little family movie... Despicable Me... What a cute movie.. Madi loved it!
