Eggs?

Well...after getting in the Christmas spirit yesterday..I told Madi "lets make chocolate chip cookies for Santa"..(haha just cause I wanted some).
Madi did great in the kitchen helping me dump the ingredients in the bowl & mix. When we were done I let madison lick the spatula.. Umm yeah hives everywhere!
So perhaps we have a mild egg allergy? No wonder she doesn't like scrambled eggs.. Maybe they literally make her sick.
Anyways... The cookies for "Santa" turned out great. I even made a couple of ice cream cookie sandwiches to use up our vanilla ice cream .. Now who wouldn't eat that!

Decorating

Well... I couldn't hold off any longer... Last night we decorated the house for Christmas!
I bet Zach tries to tackle the outside lights this weekend..
Having the house decorated definitely puts me in a great holiday mood.

Traveling & Snow!

Our flight did not leave until late last night... Madi was so tired & so was I!
She slept on the plane most of the time & slept the whole car ride home. I'm completely exhausted!

Ok! So it started snowing this morning around 9am. I had to go to Target to get groceries..so Madison and I were cruising around..listening to Christmas music, with a peppermint mocha, all in the snow!! It was awesome I have to say!

Thanksgiving

What a great Thanksgiving!!!
Thursday we flew into Fort Worth & met our family for a huge meal at Zach's grandmas.
Friday night Zach & I went out to the Gaylord to eat at the steakhouse & just to see all the awesome decorations.
My mom took me shopping & to get my nails done... OMG I miss that!! Greatness!
We did all sorts of outings during the weekend.. Cabelas, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, and more!
I had so much fun coming back to Fort Worth and getting to see everyone!
Guess it's back to the remote country... & possibly our first blizzard Monday! Yikes!

Zoo time

I had to go into Omaha today to drop Lola off at the Kennel, since we are heading to Fort Worth for thanksgiving tomorrow, and while we were in town Madison & I went to the zoo.
Madison loved the aquarium.. We could have spent hours in there.

Country living

Well today I had two girls over for a play date with their kids. It was a lot of fun & my house was a disaster after the group got done with it.
We caught a mouse last night & Zach and I argued over who got to kill it. I don't want them in the house.. But I just can't finish them off when caught alive.. So Zach did the job!
Madi also got a lamp shade stuck on her this morning...so funny!

Zachs out chopping down trees. I'm sitting on the patio having coffee on a beautiful cool morning ( not hot.. Not cold). We've got a brisket in the smoker... Ahh this is the life!

Story time

Madison & I went down to the library for children's story time.
It was awesome.. The library was beautiful... They had all sorts of little nooks & soft reading areas for the little ones. The ladies gave snacks to all the kids & then did a little scavenger hunt for goodies all over the library. I was so impressed.. It was great! We will be going each Friday morning!

I made a friend... Haha that sounds funny.. Like I'm 10 or something.
Her name is Katie, we met at a bible study. She has two boys, one the same age as Madi & then a 4 month old. She also played tennis in college so that's cool.
We seem to have a lot in common.

Picnic

Yesterday was a gorgeous day out so Madison and I decided to have a picnic.

Johnny's & church

Last night Madison was a nightmare at the steak house we went to for dinner.. It's not a dressy or classy place by any means, but Madison was throwing fits & food & running around. We decided we are done with going out to eat until this phase passes...just no fun!
I went to a women's group today at the church we've been attending, it was great.
Madison had fun playing with the other kiddos & I finally feel like I've met some people to connect with.
We also met Zach in Omaha again today for lunch.. It is just so nice to do that, it's really the highlight of my week.

Madison update

So Madison is really chatting & learning.
Today it was cold so we learned all about hats & she loves to put everything that will fit on her head & say "hat".
Also she is loving "helping" mommy do things around the house... It actually just creates more for me to clean up, but that's how we learn... Right?
She's doing the dishes now & really is just getting water everywhere.. I'm glad we don't pay a water bill here'

8 Years

Today is Zach & my 8 year anniversary!
I cannot believe we've been married for 8 years & have one beautiful little girl.
I feel so blessed.
Tonight we are planning on a low key evening, since we don't have any babysitters yet... Just pizza & some wine & good conversation after Madison goes to bed.
I think we're going on a nice date night next week when we come back to Fort Worth to celebrate.
Lucky me... Look at what I got today!
Apparently getting flowers delivered all the way out here was not so easy.

Pumpkin Bread & Chainsaws

Okay I officially feel like a country woman..
This morning I made a nice loaf of pumpkin bread. While it was in the oven I decided to pull out our tools & fix my husbands chainsaw that got a loose & locked up chain this weekend.

Truly a jack of all trades!

Getting colder

Well.. It's starting to get colder here.
It was sprinkling on the way to church this morning & the water was freezing as soon as it hit the windshield. Tonight it's only supposed to be like 18... So it's gonna be cold.
We went to church & the sermon was good & I am proud to report Madison did not melt down today when I dropped her off in the nursery to play, it was so nice.
Rest of the day we laid around on the sofa & watched football.. Nice on a cold day.
Last night we had some friends over for dinner... It felt normal. I hope we get to do it again soon.

Cooking & Park

We now have propane & a great dinner is in the oven.

Also madi & I stopped at the park this afternoon. She was so good all afternoon, so I decided she needed a fun outing. We also went & saw our neighbors cats (Madison loves them)!

Heck Yes!

So the electrician is here at the house finally installing the right electrical outlet for our dyer. I can finally wash & dry clothes at our house! I was so tired of going down the street to do laundry!
First world problems... I know , I know.

Also... My hard work has paid off! I've caught no mice & seen no droppings anywhere for 2 days. I've sealed some holes & bleached everything. Hopefully.. I've knocked the problem for now & can get some cats to make sure it doesn't happen again!

Alright now if I can just get direct tv out here to fix my TV issues (once again.. First world problems) the house will be running smoothly!

Oh... I did run out of natural gas last night. So..I was trying to cook & no burners would turn on. Haha. They're supposed to be delivering propane today!

MOPs

Well today was a great day.
Madi & I got out of the house and made a Super Target run..which always feels like home. Then we went to a MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers..for those you you who had no idea there was such a thing).
It was great, I met several nice ladies & Madison was having a blast with the other kids when I picked her up in the nursery.
After MOPs we ran to ALDI to get groceries.. It was literally the busiest I've ever seen an ALDI in my life! But I had a plan to be in & out in 20 minutes.. We were successful!

After getting groceries we went & met Zach for lunch in Omaha. It was an absolutely beautiful day so we walked to a little Mexican food restaurant, surprisingly good for Omaha! Madison decided to try hot salsa & loved it.. Who knew.. That girl has the oddest food palate of any child I know.. Hummus & salsa... Really?
Oh & my mice saga continues, caught two last night.. I've got to get some cats before these things drive me crazy!

Face off!

Humm let me see... Yesterday was a home bound day, it was pretty cold , wet & cloudy. Even though it was cold & wet Madison still demanded we go out & play a bit in the yard.

Today we went into town to a little park, as it was much nicer out.

Agggh! I saw a mouse run across the floor this morning.. After screaming & jumping up on a chair, I realized I was all alone & if that mouse was going to get out of the house I had to get it. So I got multiple traps, chased it in a corner & waited it out!
I won after about an hour! Haha
Then I had to take it outside...oh dread!
Too bad my dogs were scared of the mouse! What good are they...I'm getting cats!

Boring

So today was a very boring day.
We did manage to get our garage cleaned out so we can park both cars in it & we burned our trash from the week...But other than that we mainly laid around and watch football. we did not leave the house all day.

Yesterday was nice we went and had a little play date in a town near ours with a girl I met and her 2yr old names Carson. Kids got along great & so did she and I... I know we'll get together again soon .

Great Parenting

Okay okay... So my first week as a stay at home mom & I locked Madison in the car.
Took 20 minutes to get her out....
While waiting for help... I must have been hilarious to watch as I try to convince my 19 month old to hit the unlock button.

So, my 2nd cousin comes to help me get her out.... I was so embarrassed.. Of course I was still in my pajamas, no make up & had on my house slippers!

Oh well... There's always tomorrow!

Omaha

Yesterday Madison and I went into Omaha to do some grocery shopping and eat lunch with Zach.
We ate at the Union Pacific cafeteria... It's incredible! Zach also gave us a tour of his building ( I've attached some photos).

Then Madi fell asleep on the car ride home, so that lead to no nap!!! Agggh a mom needs her little ones to nap!
But I decided that to keep her happy & active we'd try playing in the leaves.. Madison loved it!
